Hun Seth was very interested and excited to start and complete his training with CWARS (as Lom orng was then known). He knew the course would enable him to be mobile and independent despite his disability.
Prior to his training, Seth was cleaning houses in Thailand to earn money to live. The travelling was long and exhausting, in his condition. Now he is able to earn a much higher income from the comfort of his own community.
On average, Seth earns between 3,000 and 10,000 Riel per day, almost three times what he was earning cleaning houses.
He was recently married, and has a beautiful little son, which makes him extremely happy and proud of his new life. He has become a very important, popular and well liked member of his community, which also makes Seth very proud.
Seth was the first of the students I spoke to who displayed some remaining ill-effects of his disability. He was quite subdued during our interview, and lacked the spark or contentment the other graduates displayed. Perhaps his business is not yet as successful as he would like, or he believed it would be at this stage. Still, he only had positive things to say about the training and how it had improved his life.
